RAGING IK BRITAIN OVER ONE THOUSAND DEATHS IN WEEK Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 19. The deaths from influenza during the week totalled 1,041. Among the victims is Mrs Kate Meyrick, the “ Night Club Queen.” ASSUMING SERIOUS PROPORTIONS SPREADING TO THE CONTINENT. LONDON, January 20. (Received January 21, at ll a.m.) The influenza epidemic is unabated. There are several instances of husband and wife dying within a few hours. Doctors are succumbing after overworking, and businesses are being carried on with skeleton staffs. Schools and cinemas are closed in many towns. The latest sufferers include Mr Henderson, Mr LansbUry, and Mr Lloyd George and his family. Law courts business was almost suspended in London yesterday owing to the illness of lawyers, witnesses, and officials.
The epidemic has spread to the Continent. There have been many deaths in West Germany.
