BRITISH FREIGHTER IN DISTRESS FOUR LIVES LOST. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, January 20. (Received January 21, at 9 a.m.) • The British freighter Exeter City battled with heavy Atlantic seas to-day in a storm that cost the lives of the master, the third officer, and two members of the crew, and damaged her considerably, causing her to flash the S.O.S. in the early dawn. (Received January 21, at 1 p.m.) The Exeter City was abandoned this afternoon in a sinking condition.
