The depression mentioned yesterday is moving slowly eastward. The forecast is moderate to strong southeast winds; weather unsettled, with further rain, and (in places) thunder; seas rough. ARRlVED.—January 20. Wakakura, H.M. training ship (12.45 p.m.), 247 tons, Commissioned Gunner T. E. Brooker, from Akaroa. The Totara was expected to arrive here this afternoon from Wellington direct to load general cargo. She is to sail on Monday for New Plymouth., A departure from Auckland yesterday was the Wingatui for Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Kini left Westport yesterday for New Plymouth, Lyttelton,-Timaru, and Dunedin. The Storm is due here from Lyttelton to-morrow, and sails on Monday for Timarn, Lyttelton, Wellington. Picton, and Wanganui. The naval ship Wakakura arrived at Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Akaroa with a draft of Royal Na\ r al Volunteer Reservists. The vessel will remain in port until January 28, when she will sail for Akaroa with another draft of reservists, who will undergo a course of training in general seamanship.

Monday next is a holiday at Wellington, and there will be no work on the waterfront on that day. The ferry steamer Rangatira will not take cargo for Wellington at Lyttelton to-morrow. A Japanese steamer is due at Lyttelton about the end of January to load scrap iron for Japan. She" will complete loading at Wellington. The Gallic left Antwerp on January 14 with a cargo of basic slag for Auckland via Capetown and Sydney. She is due at Auckland about March 5. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Rangatira, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the express. AMERICAN CARGO. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer City of Bagdad is due at Dunedin on January 25 from New York via northern ports, to discharge American cargo. The motor ship Armadale, also from' New York via northern ports; is due at Dunedin on January 26 to unload a quantity of cargo. PACIFIC COAST CARGO. The Union Company advises that the motor ship Hauraki left Los ( Angeles on January 12 with Pacific coast cargo for at Papeete, Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australia. She is due at Auckland on February 3, and Dunedin about February 16. PASSENGERS ON ORMONDE. The Orient liner Ormonde, which is due at Sydney from London to-day, has one; board the following passengers for Now Zealand:—Dr Emma B. Turkington, Dr W. H. Unwin, Miss D. B. Unwin, Mr P. C. S.
