WEDDING

KIRBY—WRIGHT. The Owaka Baptist Church was beautifully decorated last Tuesday afternoon with native greenery, Iceland poppies, and a floral wedding bell; the occasion being the wedding of Mavis Irene, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs W. E. Wright, and John Edward, only son of Mr and Mrs J. E. Kirby. The bride looked charming she entered the church on her lather’s am, attired in a white dinted satin frock, her veil held in position by sprigs of orangeblossom. She also wore shoes and hose to tone, and earned a beautiful bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her twin sister, Miss Maud Wright, as bridesmaid, attired in a frock of salmon pink crepe do chine, and tulle cap, also a cut crystal necklace (gift of the bridegroom), and a bouquet of iceland poppies. Two little flower girls, Misses Netta and Winnie Burns, of Ranfurly (nieces of the bridegroom), looked very dainty in frocks of lemon crepe de chine and tulle caps to tone, Mr F. Norrisli acted as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. L. Silcock, while Mrs North officiated at the organ. Later a reception was held in the Memorial Hall, where about seventy guests were received by Mrs Wright, who was gowned in a figured brown velvet frock and hat to tone, and canned a bouquet of marigolds. Sho was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Kirby, wearing a frock of black silk alfghalaine, relieved with white, and a black hat relieved with white, carrying a bouquet of'red roses. The usual toast list was duly honoured by the large gathering of friends and relatives, including the bride’s grandmother. Later, Mr and Mrs Kirby left for a motoring tour of Canterbury, the bride travelling in a brown costume, with hat, shoes, and hose to tone; she also wore a skunk stole, the gift of the bridegroom.
