AUCKLAND WOOL SALE

KEEN BIDDING NEW EXCHANGE RATES REFLECTED [Per United Press Association.] , AUCKLAND, January 20. A catalogue of 22,798 bales was presented at the second wool sale to-day. The indications were that bottom has been reached in prices, and there is now a definite upward trend. The new exchange rates were reflected, and bidding up to £7 per bale is expected throughout, and 5d per lb. The clip is in good condition, and there is keen competition, Germany being particularly active for both coarse and fine sorts. French buyers were prominent, _ and Japan was bidding freely for higher grades. Bradford worked closer to reserves. The brokers had a strenuous time adjusting their limits to suit altered conditions. A good clearance is being effected, and it is expected that over 90 per cent, will be cleared.
