TORNADO SWEEPS TOWNSHIP

DAMAGE TO HOUSES AND SHEDS [Pek United Press Association.] HAMILTON, January 20. Originating to the east of Ngahinapouri, a tornado swept over Paterangi, leaving a trail of damage in its wake. In several cases corrugated iron roofs were lifted and carried some distance by the ferocity of the wind. A large shod on Mr S. H. Adams’s Paterangi farm Avas reduced to a pile of twisted sheet and corrugated iron, Avhile Mr W. Hughes’s residence at Ngahinaponri Avas considerably damaged. Portion of the roof Atas torn off, a chimney levelled, and poAver and telephone linos disconnected. Mr Adams’s house Avas also damaged, portion of the roof being twisted off and the rooms Aindcrneath exposed. On Mr L. Beore’s farm, the milking shed Avas completely demolished, tin roofing iron in tin's instance being scattered over a-quarter of a mile radius. No ouo Avas injured by the visitation.
