BURKES-ST. LEONARDS LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the Progressive League was held in King George Hall on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr W. J. Bardsley, presiding. The report and balance sheet, after being read, were adopted. A motion expressing the league s sympathy with Mr H. F. Moller in his regrettable illness and hopes of a speedy rccovexy was passed. Matters relating to the improvements to tbo bathing beach and shed, also the playground at Burkes, were reported. Cr Hayward was in attendance, and furnished the meeting with interesting particulars of the activities of the Railway Committee. Efforts are being made to improve the bus and railway time-tables and induce the Railway Department to reduce transport charges. The meeting strongly urged the necessity of reducing both bus and railway faros. Other matters of special interest to tbo district were dealt with. The next meeting of the league will be hold in the last week of January.
