Captain Bertram stated that the flight hitherto had been hampered only by strong head winds. He intends leaving at sunrise, and hopes to reach Medan in one hop. '

CRASH AT SOURABAYA

AIRMEN UNINJURED,

SOURABAYA,, December 13. (Received December 13, at 1.50 p.m.) While attempting to take off at 4 o’clock this morning, Captain Bertram’s aeroplane, which was too heavily loaded, failed to rise, and ran into a ditch at the end of the field, and crashed. The landing gear and propeller were smashed. Captain Bertram and Allen were uninjured.

CAPE TOWN, December 11. Mrs Amy Mollison arrived at Mossamedes at 3.45, some hours inside her scheduled time, and left for Duala at 9 o’clock to-night.

DELAYED BY FOG,

LONDON, December 12. A Benguella message states that after a brilliant first hop to Mossamedes, Mrs Mollison encountered fog during the night and landed’ here. She was delayed for three hours, and resumed at dawn.
