GOLD MINING
BIG RIVER The report of Big River Gold Mines for November states that at No. 3 level, south drive off main east level at }o7ft from shaft, extended lift, total 50ft. Lode track is well defined, and carries a little quartz which gives prospects of line gold. A rise commenced on lode in the south drive at Bft in from the main oast level, and advanced 24ft. Stone in lower part of rise had a width of 2ft. and rave fair prospects of gold, hut toward top of rise pinched to a few inches and rising was temporarily suspended. North oast branch drive off main cast level at 153 ft from shaft; extended 32ft, total 64ft from main east level. Favourablelooking slate and sandstone country is being passed through. A rise was commenced on the lode formation passed through in the north-west branch drive. What’appears to be an old prospecting drive, or stone, was met with at sft from rise. Plans do not indicate that anv work was previously done in this direction, and a little further work is necessary to determine the situation at this point.
