BOROUGH OF ST. KILDA

FORTNIGHTLY COUNCIL MEETING At last night’s meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council there wore present Mr J. Beattie (mayor) and Crs H. H. Leary, J. Robinson, T. D. B. Roy, G. Stratton, A. D. Edgar, E. Longworth. and .1. A. Carman. The accounts passed for payment amounted to £1,298 17s 4d. The Unemployment Commissioner wrote in regard to the emergency unemployed charge stating that in cases where workers under Scheme No. 5 received wages in excess of the amountrefunded by the board, the total wages paid, including the amount refunded from the unemployment fund, was subject to deduction of the emergency unemployment charge.—Received. The manager of the city tramways wrote advising that a notice would be posted at cacli end of Royal crescent prohibiting equestrian traffic.—Received.

The 20 per cent, rebate on the halls rent for the night of October 24 was asked for by the secretary of the St. Kilda Unemployed Association.—lt was decided not to grant the request. The secretary of the Mayor of St. Kilcla’s Christmas Cheer Committee applied for the free use of a quantity of eating and drinking utensils for * the children’s picnic at Tahuna Park next Saturday.-—Granted. The captain of the St. Kilda Unemployed Cricket Club wrote making application for the use of the pavilion at Culling Park.—lt was decided to grant the request; subject to the name of a responsible party being received by the council.
