VEDIG'S MAORI PROGRAMME
Of recent years the public has had many opportunities of becoming familiar with Maori music, and it is safe to say that there are few who do not find in it a wealth of appeal and fascination. But to fully appreciate its beauty one must hear it sung as only Maoris themselves sing it. It is hex; natural ability to interpret Maori music correctly as much as her pleasing voice that is making 11a Taiaroa, the gifted Maori soprano, so popular with Vedic patroixs. Her programme, given in Maori costume includes ‘Heine e Heine,’ ‘ E Pari Ra,’ ‘ Home, Little Maori, Home,’ and ‘ Till Torca.’ There can bo no doubt that her contributions were thoroughly enjoyed by her hearers, and on more than one occasion this talented performer had to respond to the continued applause with encox-es. Of the latter the most outstanding was the ever-popular ‘ Waiata Poi,’ which never fails to delight..
