ADELAIDE, November 7. The cricket match between England and South Australia was resumed today. Tho wicket became faster under a tinge of summer. Tho attendance was 8,000. Richardson gave a 'superlative display, being forceful against all bowlers, his on-side play being particularly accurate. His innings was a bright spot in an uphill light. Ho was dismissed by Leyland, who mado a par-
ticularly smart catch ap mid-off. Tho captain was batting for 235 minutes, and hit seventeen 4’s. Tho fielding of the Englishmen was alert. Rowes was bowling fast and bumped high. South Australia’s hopes vanished early, but Grimmett renewed interest by twice square-cutting Wyatt to tho boundary in his first over, and ho reached 17 when he was smartly snapped up by Ames, whoso wicketkeeping was masterly. Larwood did not bowl to-day. Tho innings lasted 209 minutes. With a deficit of 344, South Australia followed on, and realised tho hopelessness of the position when Richardson departed for 25. He was effective in straight drives, hut was obviously weary. Nitschke played a dashing innings, but stopped out to Brown too confidently. Lonorgan and Catchlove were mostly on the defensive, and were cautious when facing the hard-worked Bowes. The century took 117 minutes. Details:— ENGLAND. First Innings.
