TO-MORROW'S SPORTS MEETING
The Caledonian Ground will be en fete to-morrow when the amateur athletes of Dunedin will return to their headquarters after an absence of two years, the occasion being the first sports meeting of the season under the auspices of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association. Good entries have been an attractive programme arranged, no fewer than four cycling races being included on the programme. These will be held on the renovated hanked track, and, as most of the wellknown track riders will be competing, some thrilling tussles may be anticipated. In addition to the ordinary track events, a two-mile relay has been included, each man having to run half a mile. A mile medley relay will be decided, as well as three secondary schools’ events, for which entries have been received from the Christian Brothers’ High School, Otago Boys’ High School, M'Glashnn College, and Mosgiel District High School. A spectacular race should be the 220yds low hurdles event, while a keen struggle is anticipated in the half-mile walk, in which G. S. Cabot, ex-New Zealand champion. will he a competitor. The first event is timed to start at 2 p.m.
