j MRS J. C. TEMPLES WINS AGAIN j i [l’m United Press Association.] TiAIARU, October l.'i. Mrs J. C. Templer, who, as Bonnie Wright, licit! the dominion lathes’ title in 11)19 and 1920, has again risen to the | position of lady champion as the rej suit of defeating Miss B. Rutherford J fHa warden), 8 up and 7 to play. | On her play throughout the tonrua- ; incut Mrs Tcmpler thoroughly deserved her victory. She has shown a remarkably consistent standard, and with the final only half completed Miss Rutlier- ! lord did not appear to have a chance of winning. The result was a clear indication of the merits of the two finalists on the day. The winner played an almost perfect short game, invariably advancing to the greens with unerring accuracy. An indication of this may be had from the fact that on a number of greens she required only one putt. An occasionally misdirected shot found the bunker, but Mrs Tcmpler got out of trouble in a masterly manner. She completed the first nine holes in the morning in 38, Miss Rutherford taking 42. At this stage Airs Templcr was 4 up, Miss Rutherford so far having failed to win a hole. At the completion of the first eighteen holes Airs Templer was 4 up, and this proved a big handicap to. Miss Rutherford, who failed in the afternoon to show any improvement on her form earlier in the day. She managed to square five holes, hut had only one win. Airs Tcmpler won five out of eleven holes in the afternoon, the match finishing at the twenty-ninth. Airs Templer made a bad start in the morning, and Aliss Rutherford should have taken the first hole, hut faulty putting enabled her opponent to halve in one over bogey. The next was | also halved, Airs Templer taking the , third, a 400yds hole, in birdie 4. Two halves followed, but Airs Templer had by now settled down to her game, and ! took three holes in succession, the last j in birdie 3. She was 4 up at the turn. ; Another two wins followed, Aliss RuthI orford gaining her first hole at the | twelfth. She then staged a recovery, i winning three out of four holes, and leaving Airs Templer 4 up at the completion of the round. The first three I holes in the afternoon were halved, ' but Airs Templcr took the next two, making her 6 up. A win in bogey 3 at the twenty-fourth for Aliss Rutherford reduced the margin, but Airs Templer won three more, leaving her S up and 7 to play.
