PLAY IN CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL MRS TEMPLER LEADS OH FIRST ROUND [Feu United Press Association.] TIMARU, October 13. Overnight rain left the Highticld Links m a slightly heavier state than yesterday for the ‘final of the dominion women’s championship between Mrs J. C. Tcn\uler (Waimato) and Miss B. Rutherford (Hawardcn). Keen interest was displayed, and at the cud of the morning’s play Mrs Tcmplcr was 4 up. in the early stages Airs Tcmplcr gave a rather indifferent display, while her approach shots and putting both proved erratic. Mrs Tcmplcr improved, and showed line form to assume a load of 6 up at the eleventh. Miss Rutherford then rallied, to win hack three holes, but lost the eighteenth, giving her opponent a lead of 4 with which to commence the afternoon round.
