Showers fell overnight but did not affect the going at Ellcrslie this morning, where ’ trainers used the course proper, on which the poles were out 35ft from the rails. The best efforts recorded wore those of Lord Aintree, Hampton Park, Woo Pat, Glenromney, Tarporley, and Psychologist. Karangapni and Hunting March ran six furlongs in Imin 22 l-ssec. Tho former pleased most. j Hawthorn ran four furlongs in 52soc, j doing it nicely. Mahkill and On Approval, with Gay Broney to assist them over the last half-mile, were in that order after five furlongs in Imin C 2-ssec. Vandyke ran six furlongs in Imin 22 2-ssec, and could have done a lot better. Barn Dance and My Money were together after three furlongs in 39 l-sscc,' tho former appearing the better at the finish. The Avondale Stakes candidate Glenromney reeled off a similar task in 33 l-ssoc, being full of running at tho finish. Wee Pat, assisted by the Kilbroney ■ —Miss Hazel gelding over _ the last three, ran six furlongs in Imin 20 3-sscc. The final three took 41 l-sscc. Ruling King and Supreme Ruler finished on terms over half a mile in 52sec—a good effort. Clontarf Bill, with a good weight up, ran five furlongs in Imin 7 2-ssec, and Claremore half a mile in 51 4-sscc. Ho was kicked up at tho finish. Hampton Park heat Royal Gallant over six furlongs in Imin 20 2-ssee. Hampton Park finished impressively. Court Haven was doing better than Tctrarchatc after five furlongs in Imin 6 4-ssoc. Tho host effort of the morning over five furlongs was recorded by Lord Aintree. He ran the first two in 25 2-sscc, and completed the distance in Imin 4 4-ssec. There was little between Psychologist, Tarporley, and Vilma after half a mile in 51 "2-ssec. Vilma had the outside running and shaped well. WORK AT TAKANIHI [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, October 13. All fast work at Takanini was carried out on the middle grass, where the going was particularly good. Thespis completed seven furlongs in Imin 30 4-sscc. Tea Trader was given an easy seven furlongs, tho last live being covered in Imin 3 4-ssec. High Comedy went with him over the last half-mile, which took 49 4-Ssoc. Greek Gold was a length ahead of Holly Ln, after five in Imin 0 3-ssoc — an attractive effort. The two-year-old Coronis was a shade better than Gay Marigold and Gold Pocket after half a mile in 50 4-sscc. Royal Artist and Specdmint finished on terms over seven in Imin 30 3-ssec. —•Exaggeration heat imperial Prince by four lengths over five furlongs in Imin Isec—An excellent gallop. Prolyxo had two lengths’ advantage over Chief Joy after six in Imin ICsec. Hauwiri ran the last three furlongs of a round in 37 2-ssee. Star Artist and Gay Sheila were oven after four furlongs in 51 2-ssoc. At Avondale tho outside of the course proper, about 60ft out from the rails, was open, and the going was excellent. Pomp and Midincttc ran five furlongs in Imin 5 3-ssec. Midincttc finished well in front, and could have improvedon the effort. Gold 'Trail and Alloy finished together after seven furlongs in Imin 38 l-sscc. Spiral beat Springvalo over five in Imin 9 1-oscc. Hunting Gry, looking well, covered the Inst seven furlongs of a mile in Imin 33scc —a good effort. British Colombia ran live in Imin 8 3-ssec, and Lad; only cantered, but looks in good order. Gipsy Love cantered down the straight. Limeoii ran seven furlongs in Imin 33 2-sscc, the last half-mile occupying 53soc. Lordly Knight took 1.7 for five furlongs, flic last half-mile occupying 53 2-Ssoc.
