LOCAL BODY ADMINISTRATION
COMMISSION TO INQUIRE [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 29. A commission will be set up in New Zealand to deal with the question of local body administration, the Prime Minister (Mr Forbes) stated to-day. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Hamilton) was at present inquiring into the matter, and after his inquiry had been completed the commission' would be set up to inquire into the whole matter.
It was hoped as a result of Mr Hamilton’s investigation to be able to limit the scope of the order of reference, and also to obviate the necessity for the commission travelling to all parts of the dominion. Mr Forbes said that it would not be possible to deal with the problem from the legislative point of view this session.
