ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Cluthal Cricket Club was held on Monday night. The annual report showed that' a successful year’s sport had been. 1 ithe outcome of the club’s activities. _ One team was entered in the competitions, and succeeded in winning both the Stewart Shield and the Waiwera Cup.: Unfortunately, owing to various reasons, the finances were not in so happy, a position. The year had been commenced with a deficit of £ll 3s Id, and this had increased during the year to £52 15s lOd. A big counter-attrac-tion on the night of the club dance accounted for a large proportion of the deficiency. However, the members showed themselves confident in their ability to wipe this off during the ensuing year. Members would bo expected to supply their own playing materials, and the green-cutting would also be done by the club. By these and other methods economies would be effected, while it was hoped to stimulate public interest by introducing some novelties. It had been decided to re? duce the honorary members’ subscription fee to 2s 6d. The ofiicial opening would be held on October 15. During last vear Mr G. Lennox made a model captain, and thoroughly deserved the award of the Hunt Trophy for the best all-round player in the club. The Butter worth Cup for best batting average was won by W. Henderson, with ah average of 62.14, the details -being seven innings, with a.total.of 435 runs The next highest averages wereG. Gallagher, 8, 246, average 30.7; and G.
