CONCERT AT SAWYER'S BAY

The Orkney-She.tland Choir gave a delightful concert in the local ball for the benefit of the unemployed relief fund. The programme, under the direction of Miss Ruby Baxter, was as follows:—Choir, ‘ Hardy Norseman ’ and ‘Shenandoah’; hornpipe, Master George Reilly ; songs—‘ Danny Boy ’ and ‘ Hail Caledonia,’ Miss L. M‘Donald; recitation, ‘ Listening-in,” Miss N. M‘Kee; song, Mr Robertson; violin solo, Mr E. Wiggins; male portion of the choir, sea chanty; comm song, ‘lf Ever I marry Agaiii,’ Mr M‘Kee (recall, ‘The Lass of Killiecrankie’); duet, Misses Baxter and Kennedy; song, Mr A. Highet (‘ Bonny Mary of Argyll ’); recitation, ‘ Football Match,’ Mr M‘Kee; Irish jig, Master George Reilly; humorous sketch, Air and Miss M'Kee; song, Mr Johnson' ‘There’s a Tavern in the Town,’ male portion of the choir, choir, Vesper Hymn. The accompaniments were played by Miss Jean M‘Millan and Miss Baxter and Messrs An- , drews and Williams.

At the conclusion of the concert Mr W. Wallis, chairman of the Unemployed Relief Committee, thanked the performers for their contributions, and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Mr Laurenson returned thanks, and expressed, on behalf of the choir, the pleasure it gave them to travel to Sawyers Bay and receive such a warm welcome. An enjoyable dance was then held.
