Max SchnVeling defeated Mickey Walker, the former World’s undefeated middle-weight champion, in the eighth round by a technical knock-out in a bout here to-night. Schmeling was 141 b heavier than Walker. In the first round Walker sent a left hook to the body, Schmeling banging Walker’s body in a clinch. Schmeling shook Walker with a volley of whistling hooks to the jaw. Schmeling floored Walker with a right to the chin for a count of six, the bell ending the round. In the second round Schmeling’s right to the chin staggered Walker, who fought, back gamely, but again Max nailod him. with three straight rights. Walker was wobbly and badly hurt, but he flung himself on the German, belting at Sc-bmeling’s body. Max ripped back with half a dozen uppercuts in close. Max landed three more, and then in a rally Walker pinned the German on the ropes and hammered his head and body. In the third round Walker bounced a left hook off Schmeling’s chin, but the German .returned with a sharp right, and they slugged at close quarters. hr the fourth round Walker dug a left hook in Schmeling’s body, and caught a hard right on the chin. They exchanged hooks and locked heads and swung lists to the body. Walker shook off two smashing rights to the head to hammer Schmeling across the ring. They were in a clinch when the bell sounded.

The German bent in pain' as Walker ripped him around the ring, sending the German’s bead back with lefts. Max smashed a right to the jaw and another hard right to the head just as the hell went. At the opening of the sixth round Schineling- was 'more agressivc, and landed a right which opened a gash in Walker's upper lip. There was new fire in the German’s attack as ho jabbed Walker with his left to the head and forced him to cover. They traded rights to' the head, and Walker drilled right and loft to the body as the bell rang. In round seven Schineling jabbed away at Walker’s face, but Walker banged three lefts to the body, then traded rights to the head, and drove Sclimeling across the ring with a body attack. He pinned Schineling to the ropes and shot his head_ hack with uppercuts, and traded rights to the head at close quarters. At the opening of the eighth round Schineling jabbed Walker on the nose and raminhd a right to the jaw, M alker came back with a right to the chin, but again the German shot Walker’s head back with rights which sent him reeling. Tie wont down for a count of six under a right to the chin. W alker was almost helpless as the Gorman smashed him about the ring, his left eye being closed. Another right floored Walker for a count of nine. Walker reeled and stumbled from one side of the ring to the other, gamely fighting, but in a terribly weakened condition, although Schineling was unable to floor him again. W'alker reeled into his own corner and the gong rang. Walker’s manager refused to allow him to continue.
