CONCERT AND DANCE

The Tramway’s and Caledonian combined draught clubs held their first annual concert and dance in the Trades Hall last night. The building was well filled and, judging by the enthusiasm shown, the gathering was a thorough success. One could hardly believe there wore so many draught players in tho city, and it shows the groat advance the game has taken in Dunedin during the last year or two. The programme was well ’ varied, and recalls were numerous. Mr W. Duncan, of tho Caledonian Club, presided. The programme was as follows: Overture, Melody Makers’ Band; duet, Misses Bussell and Duncan; children’s song. Miss Wilson; banjo solo, Mr D. Noilson; quartet, 'Trinity College students; novelty item, “telepathy,” Mr Harrison and partner; pianoforte duet, Misses Smail; sextette, Miss Small and party; vocal solo, Miss Duncan; stop dance, Miss Wilson; vocal solo, Mr Sheppard; xylophone solo, Mr Devoid!; violin solo. Mr Boyer; mandolin and piano duet, Messrs Anderson.

Supper was partaken of at the conclusion of the concert. Dancing then commenced and continued till 12 o’clock, the singing of 1 Aulcl Lang Syne ’ concluding a most successful and enjoyable function. The committee of the clubs concerned is to bo congratulated on the excellent programme provided. Messrs J. Seoar and W. Wallace acted as M.C.s, and the catering was in the hands of Messrs Godfrey, of South Dunedin.
