FISH WEDGED IN CREVICE
AN ARAPUNI PUZZLE [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 27. It was revealed by the Acting Minister of Public AVorks (Mr Macmillan) this morning that a large fish had played an important part in the recent remedial measures at Arapuni. The Minister narrated how, when a minor leak was discovered last week above the central drain in the head race near the wall, a diver was sent down to make investigations. The seepage in the outlet had suddenly diminished in volume, and the discovery was made by the diver that a large fish had ‘become wedged in a crevice. He was unable to remove the obstruction, and it remained in position until a tarpaulin used for temporarily plugging the hole was laid. ■ ' I The Minister said that the voluipe of the discharge had decreased by half as a result of the fish becoming wedged. “ It is a change to find something in the nature of humour associated with our activities at Arapuni,” said the Minister.
