PIRATES JUBILEE BALL
The Concert Chamber of the Town Hall was the scene of a very successful function on Thursday evening, when the Pirates Football Club held its jubilee ball. Decorations in this beautiful hall are superfluous. Realising this, the committee, under the able guidance of Mr Leu Wright, had arranged masses of pot plants, which were banked in front of the stage, over which was the Pirates’ banner, with its skull and cross-bones. The programme was a varied one, including a few oldfashioned favourites such as the quadrilles and the alberts, which were greatly enjoyed by both the younger and older dancers. During the evening a mock battle took place, the ammunition being of soft wool snowballs, and provided great amusement. A flashlight photo of the whole company was a groat success. The supper room was gay with spring flowers and multi-coloured balloons, while paper hats and squeakers added to the merriment.
Among those present were the president of the Pirates’ Club, Mr S. G. Styche, Colonel W. J. Strong, Mr and Mrs D. AI. Stuart, the latter wearing a black frock, with floral coatee, Mr and Mrs S.
