"NO BAPTISM”
PiTT-RIVERS DECLARES HIMSELF LONDON, August 17. “ There will be no baptism,” reads in part an announcement of the birth of a son to Captain Pitt-Rivers’s second wife. Captain Pitt-Rivers says: “ I am an honest pagan myself, but my wife and I have Christian relatives, and therefore it is necessary to make things absolutely clear.” [Captain Pitt-Rivers’s first wife was a daughter of Lord Forster, one-time Governor-General of Australia. He was his father-in-law’s private secretary and A.D.C., 1920-24. His first wife divorced him in 1929, and last year he married Rosalind Venetia, daughter of the late Brigadier-general Hon. Anthony Henley.]
