(Received August 2, at 12.5 p.m.) 1 The Bank Holiday was largely spoilt for Londoners by a storm of remarkable fierceness, with blinding lightning and torrents of rain. Considerable damage was done. A man was killed by lightning while sheltering under a tree during a cricket match at Twickenham. The King, aboard the Britannia, opened Cowes week by winning the Cayley Cup.
