THURSDAY’S MEETING

A meeting of the Post Office Demonstration Committee was presided over by the mayor yesterday afternoon. Reports were received from the conveners of committees, and these showed that the arrangements are well forward for Thursday night’s demonstration. A full meeting of the General Committee will be held in the Council Chamber tonight, when a full attendance is desired. The Otago Regimental Band will play a selected programme in the Town flail on Thursday from 7.30 p.m. The doors will be opened at 7, and, judging by the enthusiasm that is being displayed, those who desire a seat are advised to be early in attendance. Applications from public bodies, societies, trades organisations, lodges, and clubs may be made for reserved tickets for the platform to-day and to-morrow at the Town Hall before 5 p.m., and those allotted will be available at the same place from 10 a.m. on Thursday.
