.At tho quarterly summoned meeting of the Triumph Lodge, No. 9, the W.M. (Bro. W. O’Neill) presided, and was .supported by the EP.M. (Bro. George Hollyer) and P.M. Bro. C. Barr, chaplain. There was a, largo attendance of members and visitors from No. 11 and No. 41. Three candidates were initiated. The W.M. conducted the ceremony, and was ably supported by his officers. The Social Committee reported that all arrangements had been completed for the annual hard-np night. The W.M. extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, and the W.M. of No. 11 responded on behalf of his lodge. Triumph Lodge, No. 9 (juvenile branch), met recently’. The W. Mistress (Sister Jessie Ewart) presided over a large attendance of members. Visitors were admitted from tho senior lodge, also the dominion superintendent (Bro. E. Aslin). The W. Mistress welcomed the superintendent on behalf of her lodge. Throe candidates were then initiated. Tho superintendent delivered a short address on the aims of the society’ and the need of boys and girls to bo true to their pledges and to he loyal to one another. Keen interest prevails among the juveniles. The fortnightly’ meeting of the Valley True Blue Juvenile Lodge was held, in tho Orange Hall, Leith street, on Tuesday. Tho meeting was opened by the W.M. (Bro. N. Williams), who was assisted by’ a full staff of officers. Tiiere was a large attendance of members. Games anti competitions were hold, and these were enjoyed by the boys. The superintendent (Bro. J. Sutherland) addressed tho lodge, «and congratulated tho W.M. and the various officers on the very efficient manner in which they wore conducting the business of the lodge. Before closing the lodge the W.M. thanked the superintendent for his remarks. The meeting of Valley True Blue, No. 11, was held in tho lodge hall on Tuesday night. The lodge was opened by the W.M. (Bro. A. S. Barrett) and the chaplain (Bro, D. Reid). There was a full attendance of officers] and it being quarter night about fifty .members were present. Two candidates were introduced to the lodge by tho elders and initiated into the order by the W.M. Four friends were proposed for membership. The election of W.M. and D.M. resulted in Bro. A. S. Barrett being reelected to the W. Master's chair and Bro. W. Graves was re-elected as 1). Master. The W.G.M. of New Zealand (Bro. A. Devlin) was welcomed to the meeting by Bro. Barrett. W.G.M. Bro. A. Devlin presented a Past Master’s collar to P.M. Bro. R. D. Brown, who had completed his term as Past Master of the lodge. As the Social Committee had arranged for a lecture the meeting was adjourned, and Dr R. E. Allan was welcomed by the AV.M. Dr Allan gave a most interesting and helpful lecture on ‘ First Aid,’ and on the motion of Sec. Bro. A. Hay a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Dr Allan. Before tho supper was served by tho sisters the tug-of-war’ team was congratulated on its meritorious performance at the recent competitions. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Excelsior Lodge, No. 41, was hold in the P.A. Hall, Green Island, on Wednesday evening, tho meeting being opened by W.M. Bro. Jas. Lindsay, assisted by Hon. Chaplain Rev. Bro. J. G. Dunn. Visitors admitted were I.P.M. Bro. G. Hellyer, officers and members of the Triumph Lodge, No. 9, I.P.M. Bro. G. Austin, officers and members of Valiev True Blue, No. 11, 11.W.G.M. Bro. A. Devlin, and Grand Executive officers. Bro. Lindsay, in welcoming the visitors, expressed his pleasure at seeing such largo numbers present. The first lady members. of No. 41 were then initiated, the ceremony being very impressively carried out by the W.M., assisted by his officers. The correspondence dealt with included an invitation to attend a hard-up night from, No. 9. The business being concluded, the lodge was closed, and a very pleasant two hours were spent. Opportunity was taken by R.W.G.M. Bro. A. Devlin to present to I.P.W.G.M. Bro. H. A. Christie the regalia of that office, Bro. Devlin conveying the thanks of the Grand Executive and all subordinate lodges to Bro. Christie for all he had done for tho order. In replying, Bro. Christie thanked the members for the honour conferred on him, and expressed gratitude for the assistance given Inin during his term as W.G.M. by members of the Grand Executive and his own lodge. He expressed great regret at the death of two executive officers, W.G.M. Bro. C. A. Arnold and G. Trustee Bro. J. M'Mulland. Grand Chaplain Bro. E. Aslin, on behalf of the society, presented to Mrs Christie a case of teaspoons and knives as * a token of appreciation of her services to the society. Bro. Christie suitably replied on behalf of Mrs Christie. A short toast list was honoured, and musical items were given by Bros. Bachop. Smith, and Rev. J. G. Dunn. Bro. R. B. Orr presided at the piano.
