WOMEN S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
The dominion championship tournament of this association has boon allotted to Otago ihis year, and will be held during the last week in August. It is therefore very fitting that the New Zealand president should be resident here. This honour has just been conferred on Mrs Richard Hudson, and site is the first woman to hold the office. The choice was a very popular one in the south, as Mrs Hudson has been for many years president of the Otago Association and has done much fo: the game in this province. After being known for twenty-one years as the “ Ladies’ Hockey Association,” the name has been wisely changed to “ Women’s Hockey Association.” a name by which the Lnglish Association has always been known. It is a pity that all " sports followed by women should not use this good English word in their titles, but perhaps before long wo shall sec the lady bowlers following the lead of their hockey-playing sisters.
