The conditions wore ideal for the u-st of the Kirk-Windeycr Cup Hatches at the Hose Bay links to-day. A civ South Wales proved too strong for Queensland, the latter being beaten by G rubbers to 0. New South Wales thus qualified for the final against New Zealand on Wednesday or Thursday. The following were the results:— Foursome.—ll. H. Bettington and R. .1. Withycombe (New South Wales) heat T. Trade and T. Mnnro (Queensland), 3 up; .7. Fervior and G. Thomson (New South Whiles) beat R. H. Cnmming and G. WhatmCre (Queensland), 4 up. Singles.—Fender beat Gumming, 1 up; Bettington boat Mnnro, 7 up; Withycombe beat Trude, 4 up; Thomson beat Whatmorc, ft up. The games were all played out. An outstanding incident was Fender’s recovery against Gumming. The former’s form was disappointing in the early stages, his veteran opponent being 3 up at the turn. Fender was much steadier in the second nine holes, to win at the last green. Subject to the likelihood of alteration in the New Zealand team, the draw for the foursomes over thirty-six holes tomorrow is Fcrricr and Thomson versus Hornabrook and Silk, Bettington and Wjthycombe versus Black and Bi insdon.
