AWARDS APPROVED Last night’s meeting of the Otago Head Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society was presided over by the president (Mr H. H. Hendenwn). Special reference sras made to the performance of E. (3. Lewis, who is onlv fourteen years, of age and was stated to be the youngest candidate to gain the award .of merit in Dunedin. ' Mr Henderson reported that ho had interviewed the rector of the Otago Boys’ High School <Mr W. J. Morrell) regarding the institution of the secondary schools boyls’ life saving competition. and Air Aft or roll was agreeable to the competition being held, preferably in the first ienn. It was decided ho commenco the competition in the fin?t term of next year It was left to A&tssrs Henderson and Mathieson to draw up regulations for the proposed contest. Dr Clarke Ha mam was appointed as one of the society’s bon. medical officers, and it was (reported that he had been invited to deliver a lecture on resuscitation at cVie of the forthcoming swimming club functions.
