(Received May 11, at 12.45 p.m.) The Standing Committee, by 27 Votes to 23, passed an amendment limiting the operation of the Sunday Performances Bill to London. Lord Stanley, in opposing the amendment, said the Government regarded it as vital that some Bill should be passed during the present session. It is understood that the Government has decided itself to introduce a measure legalising the present Sunday openings and allowing other municipalities to secure the same after taking a poll of the people.
