“BRITAIN’S PRIZE ASS"

RALPH LYNN UPHOLDS TITLE IN ‘ MISCHIEF!

One of the best-dressed and most beautifully-mounted of comedy films describes _ Mischief/ the new British and Dominions’ film, coming to the Empire Theatre on Friday. The settings are lovely and various, and the film “ moves ” all the time, not having a one-room set, as in quite a number of film farces. Some beautifully photographed countryside scenes were taken in Kent, enlivening the interest and defying belief that it is impossible, owing to weather conditions in Britain, to take exterior shots in films. Your favourite film comedian, Ralph Lynn, has the leadingrole, and he has never been funnier. He caused laughter riots in his previous comedies, aiid in ‘Mischief/ when shown at ; a Royal performance, he had the whole house rocking. H.R.H. the Prince of Wales praised the film and said how much lie had enjoyed it. Charming Winifred Shotter, supplies the romance, and a sweeter heroine has yet to bo found. Ralph Lynn is certainly Britain’s prize ass, and long may he hold his title! ■ He is as unique in his quaint mannerisms as he is in his sense of humour. In ‘ Mischief/ directed by, Jack Raymond, he is at his very best.' The story .by Ben Travers is a humorous affair, and the situations five Ralph Lynn every opportunity of isplaying his inimitable flair for giving us every ounce of comedy possible.; For instance, when our friend visits a young lady in the country and is requested to put out a fire in the chimney, does he do it with charming grace? No! But he does it with charming idiocy! He promptly_ falls off the roof, holding a tin of salt in his mouth, into the water butt! Life is a jolly business when we can see and hear Ralph Lynn on the screen.
