TWO ENTERTAINING FILMS BOOKED If ever a role were filled so as to leave nothing to he desired it is that of the simple, tender-hearted Michael Morda, played by Paul Lukas in ‘ 'Hie Beloved Bachelor,’ to head, the Octagon’s new programme on Friday. Deserted by his actress fiancee when he was an aspiring young sculptor, he finds solace in adopting the baby daughter of his model. Recent successes have proved the quality of Paul Lukas’s acting, but this is a new typo of part, and as the’devoted, fatherly young bachelor ho is thoroughly natural. So tender does he make the heart of Michael Morda and so sympathetic the audience that he becomes really a “beloved” bachelor. Dorothy Jordan, Charlie Uuggles, and Vivienne Osborne aro others in the cast. Lew Ayres, who was recently selected as the most popular male star of the screen in ‘ All Quiet on the Western Front,’ will be. seen in a drama of Mississippi River life, ‘ Heaven on Earth,’ on Friday. The handsome Lew enacts the part of a “ steambqater on tho father of waters. He is seen in the greatest characterisation of his career, and brings to the screen new evidence of his ability. The climax ot this absorbing picture comes at the height of a raging flood, in which tho "Teat river breaks through the levees which form its hanks and brings destruction to the countryside. ‘ Heaven on Earth ’ is one of the greatest pictures of the yeiv, and one which will thrill and entertain you through every minute of its length.
