GIRL HATES COMMAS

PASTE POT FLUNG AT EMPLOYER A dispute between Mile J., a pretty Paris typiste, and her employer, which would provide the scenario for an amusing film, struck an unusual note of gaiety in tho Paris Correctional Court on March 19. Milo J. was sued for assaulting her employer by hurling a pot of office paste at his head, inflicting a gash on his forehead, the mark of which he will bear all his life. “ Mile J.,” the employer said, “ refused to put punctuation marks in the letters I dictated to her. It was no use my dictating ‘ Dear Sir comma ’ and stating ‘ new paragraph.’ She refused to take any notice, and ran the sentences straight on. “ She would not use a comma or a full stop, and when I remonstrated she flew into a rage.” The girl, however, defiantly shook her blonde curls and retorted: “ This man absolutely got on my nerves with his commas and his full stops. He complained about them on purpose because he wanted to dismiss me. He is intolerable.” The court fined the girl 17s and costs.
