PRINCE ENJOYED 'MISCHIEF'

RALPH LYNN'S LATEST FOR EMPIRE The feature of a midnight society charity “ matinee ” just before Christmas last year was the first presentation of ‘ Mischief,’ the British and dominions’ production featuring Ralph Lyn. The Prince of Wales and Prince George were in the audience, and appreciated the wealth of fun. “ 1 enjoyed that,” said the Prince as the picture ended, and the distinguished audience was still applauding. Benders are to have an opportunity of seeing this mirth-provoking British picture, as it is the feature of the programme at the Empire next week. Critics are loud in their praise of Ralph Lynn in the type of role he has made famous on the screen, and there is no doubt that ‘ Mischief ’ will repeat here its London success during the run at the Now Gallery. Some of the really funny incidents in ‘ Mischief ' have never been equalled. They are clever as well as humorous, not merely slapstick. For instance, Ralph Lynn, as Arthur Gordon, well-to-do young man, decides to visit a friend in the country, and on arrival he inquires his way to the cottage, where she is staying. The yokels send him three “ yards ” down tho road to the local hackney owner, who, when asked if his coach can stand the strain of taking our friend, informs him that, as the driver is “ half-sharp,” he has to be “ dared ” to do it, and told that he can’t! The horse is similarly afflicted, having been trained by tho ” half-sharp ” youth, so you can imagine the gay time Ralph Lynn has on the 'acknev and your cnjovment of ‘ Mischief.’ ‘ ■

•leanne Stuart, a newcomer to tho talking screen, is a charming and vivacious actress, and one, judging her performance in • Mischief,’ who will go ahead in British lilms. She wears clothes beautifully and speaks in a clear, well-modulated voice. ‘ Mischief ’ is an all-round excellent comedy, and if yon can resist Ralph Lynn, star of the film, with his joyous banter, and Winifred Shutter, then certainly keep away!
