To provide lecturers for lortnightly meetings for some eight months ot the year was a heavy tax on the committee, and also on the available talent. In this respect thanks were specially due to those who so willingly gave thenvaluable experience and knowledge so freely. Thanks were also due to those who from time to time exhibited plants and flowers at the meetings. They were much appreciated, and were an education to everyone, as well as helping the club’s finances. Thanks were also due to all those who in various ways assisted the club. The picnic was held at Company’s Bay. The committee would have liked to see a larger attendance. Those who attended were favoured with a lovely day, and spent a very enjoyable afternoon. Special thanks were due to the Y.M.O.A. and to Mrs and Mr Chapman for their assistance. A sweet pea growing competition was held during the year from seed donated by Messrs Borron and Dance, Moa Seed Farm l , and brought forward some seventy entrants, over forty of whom put up exhibits showing .the result of their efforts. The unfavourable weather conditions for sweet peas were much against success, but the result was quite gratifying. It is intended to continue this competition this year; perhaps in a slightly modified form. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £1 2s 6d for. the year’s work. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet the chairman congratulated the club on the year’s operations, and appealed for renewed enthusiasm and interest during the coming year.
