PORT OF DANZIG
SENSATIONAL POLISH PLOT PLANS FOR SEIZURE Pres* Ast ciation—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 2. There are sensational reports that Poland has been plotting to seize Danzig, a free port controlled by the League of Nations. The Geneva correspondent of the ‘ Daily Express ' says that Poland had completed plans for the seizure of Danzig, and if it bad not been for the eleventh hour intervention of France the Polish fleet would already have sailed into Danzig harbour, and thus bro Tight a direct conflict between Germany and Poland. The Danzig correspondent of the ‘ Daily Herald ’ confirms the preparation for seizure of the port, eight warships being ready in Gdynia harbour, eight miles distant. The raid was called off owing to urgent warnings from Geneva. The ‘ Herald’s ’ correspondent is of opinion that if a conflict between Germany and Poland arises, Russia on one side and France on the other will not be able to hold aloof.
