OVER ONE HUNDRED WITNESSES DECREE NISI PRONOUNCED frmt AMocistioD— By /Telegraph —Copyright. SYDNEY, May 2. Judgment was delivered to-day in a society divorce suit which broke all Staterecords. It occupied eighty-seven daysi no fewer than 103 witnesses were examined, and the legal costs are estimated at over £20,000. A decree nisi was pronounced, Field being ordered to pay his wife’s costs and the costs of the two co-respondents who were eliminated. Nott was ordered to pay Field's costs. ■ The parties were Sidney John Field, a meat exporter, and his wife, Ivy Field. The latter initiated the. suit, alleging misconduct, but the husband filed a cross petition on the same grounds, joining three persons as corespondents, two of whom_ were struck out during the hearing. The third, Roland Nott, a warehouseman, was today adjudged guilty of misconduct with Mrs Field. Mr Justice Owen found that Mrs Field had ' en reckless and untruthful in her charges against her husband, and her allegation with regard to his misconduct with other women had not been proved, nor were her charges of cruelty.. On the other hand, Mrs Field was held to be guilty of misconduct with Nott in the early part of last year. . Counsel for the wile and Nott announced his intention of appealing. Field’s alimony payments of £SO a week to his wife have been reduced to £ls.
