Presence of mind by a fellow-em-ployee saved the‘life or a .city council worker, Timothy Kennedy, aged fiftytwo, who was buried beneath an avalanche of sand. His companion obtained a long piece of pipe and forced it-through the sand. Kennedy grasped the end and inserted it in his mouth and obtained air, but he lapsed into unconsciousness. He recovered when he was rescued.
