THE BRITISH NAVY.
TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —Your inquiries show that for a parade such as Anzao Day the order of precedence is not strictly adhered to. Can you enlighten many as to why Anzao Day parade should differ from any other official parade? It has always been a recognised fact that all naval units, whether active or reserve, take pride of position in any official function or parade. You also state that in last year’s Anzac parade the Senior Cadets headed the Otago Regiment. That, in my opinion, was quite a sensible thing to do, as the Otago Regiment on that date consisted of only a few officers and n.c.o.s, there being no compulsory or volunteer training. I understand the Senior Cadets’ badge has the lettering “ Ist Battalion, Otago Regiment,” so why class them as taking precedence over the Otago Regiment?—l am, etc., Ex-Bluejacket, April 30.
