MOTHERS' DAY SERVICE
Interest is increasing in the large Mothers* Day gathering to be held in the Town Hall next Sunday afternoon; Floral tributes will be a very pleasing feature of the meeting. Everyone attending is asked to wear a white flower to honour the memory of his or her own mother. In case some are unable to secure a flower, a small supply will be available at the various entrances to the hall, and will be given by Y.W.C.A. members. The platform is to be decorated for the occasion, and tlie public are urged to provide coloured flowers. At the close of the meeting the flowers are to be taken to the Public Hospital to help cheer those unable because of illness to attend the meeting. The matron has expressed her delight with this link of cheer, which she considers will be-most helpful to patients. The service promises to provide a musical treat, with the announcement that the combined choirs, under the baton of Mr H. P. Desmoulins, will sing the * Halllelujah Chorus ’ and * Jerusalem,’ accompanied by the city organist, Dr V. E. Galway, who will also render organ solos. Miss Mary Pratt will also sing, and Rev. C. Reay will play the piano for community singing. The speaker is Mr Harry Dawson, the interdenominational Evangelist, of Australia, who will take as his subject * Mother’s Cross.’.
