STREET MAINTENANCE.
TO THE EDITOR, Sir,— Regarding the maintenance of the Anderson’s Bay road to the cemeterm. I would like to know if any of the authorities ever look at this road ? In ray idea it is a disgrace to any town; tram rails stick up above the road formation, and pot-holes and water glitters abound. Near the Wilford Tea Garden the road encroaches on most of the footpath, and I know of a person that was almost run down recently by a bus (a council one, at that) that was using the footpath as a road. The footpath is certainly the smoothest for motor traffic, but why not give pedestrians a chance? Surely there are enough unemployed about to give work to in attending to this road; and there need be no stand-down week —a work that would be more profitable than present tasks to the council and ratepayers alike. —I am, etc., Ratepayer.
