PERFORMANCE OF A DRINKWATER PLAY
For tho first time in Dunedin John Drinkwater’s brilliant comedy, ‘ Bird In Hand,’ will bo performed on April 26 in tho Concert Chamber, at 8 o’clock, Tho play, which will bo under the control of Mr Lloyd Boss, will bo performed by members of the Drama and Arts Classes of the Workers' Educational Association. Included in the cast are Misses E. Laing and Phyllis Madcn and Messrs Frank Cawley, Edgar Hunter, Lindsay Smith, Victor Trochon, E. Potter, Lloyd Ross, and A. Batchelor. Tho play, which was specially translated into French for a command performance for the King of the Belgians, is distinguished by John Drinkwater’s best writing and combines humour and sentiment with dramatic intensity. Tho Anderson’s Bay Orchestra will provide the music. The charge for admission is a shilling, with reserved seats extra. Tho box plan wilt be at Tho Bristol. On tho Friday before the main performance a special performance will bo given to the unemployed and their wives.
