FINGER BLOWN OFF
OXFORD COACH’S MISHAP. .Mr N. S. T. Benson, a member o ■St. John’s College. Oxford, was run ning along the bank following St John’s crew, which he had been coach ing in the Torpids race at Oxford 01 February 24, when he shot off one o his fingers with a revolver used foi urging on the crew. Ho had fired three cartridges when the weapon jammed, and the accident occurred when he tried to extract the cartridge. Dr Pat Mallarn, the old ’varsity rowing “ blue,” was sent for and dressed the hand.
