PLEASANT ENTERTAINMENT
BENEFIT CONCERT IN TOWN HALL The excellent work accomplished by the Rev, V, G. Bryau King at the Mission House calls for something more tangible than the appreciation of the community—it calls ior practical support. Consequently it was gratifying to note that a concert organised with this very laudable object in the Town Hall last evening met with a highly satisfactory response. The concert was arranged by Signora Martinelli-Reggiardo and Signor Giovanni Stella, and its varied and attractive character found wide and obvious approval.. Among the soloists were Miss Valerie Elliott, Mrs Edward Stone, Miss Kathleen Geeriu, Miss Dorothy Rodgers, Miss Clare Dillon, Miss Vanda Duncan, Messrs F. Rodgers, T. Kennedy, J. Devereux, G. Drummond, L. Carroll, and Signor Stella. Misses N. Bayly and J. Stewart played pianoforte solos and a duet, Mr J. W. Stewart a flute solo, and Signora Martinelli-Reggiardo and Miss Ngaire Glue gave recitations. An instrumental quintet, consisting of Misses Briasco and Palmer, Madame Reggiardo, and Messrs Palmer and Stewart, played light orchestral music. There was an excellent muster of members of the Returned Soldiers' Choir, and under the baton of Mr John Leech they sang with the spirit that invariably distinguishes their ■ performances. The presence of Lieutenant Asten and the band of the First Battalion was another essential feature in the success of the entertainment. That all the items were enjoyed whole-heartedly was made manifest by the very warm applause.
