SHIPMENTS FROM AMERICA FOREIGN ATTACK OH THE DOLLAR Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, April 7. The franc touched 395]- and closed at 394| to-day, which is well above the gold point. Shipments of gold to' France will be renewed to-morrow, when approximately 7,000,000d0l will be embarked, the first for several months. What was apparently' another foreign .attack on the dollar reached a climax in Paris to-day when a newspaper published a report that the National City Bank of Now York had suspended payments. The institntioii vigorously denied this officially, saying it was absurd, and filed a protest with .the State Department in Washington, by which it is expected that an investigation will bo made to determine if the attacks on the dollar are inspired by the Government or by speculators.
