JOHN M‘GLASHAN COLLEGE
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the John! M'Glashan College Board was held irt First Church Hall on Thursday. Thera were present:—Messrs T. 0. Rosa (chairman), Russell, G. M. MacLean,A. C. Cameron, the Revs. J. J. C & ir< ney and A. C, W. Standage, Dr Riley* and Mr Gilray. , The annual report and balance-sheet* were adopted. ■■ Mr Ross was re-elected chairman,; and Mr James Begg vice-chairman.,. The retiring members of the board weral re-elected, and the Rev. D. C. Herron’s name was added. The Education; Committee, consisting of Mr Gilray] (convener). Dr J. 11. Elder, Dr H* Lawson. Professor T. D. Adams, and Dr E. N. Merrington, was re-appointed* The Finance Committee and Work* Committee were also reappointed. . A vote of thanks was passed to First! Church for the use of a room for com* mittee meetings. The same evening the monthly meet* ing of the board was held. The principal reported that the school roll had risen to 145 from the commencement ob the term. W. M. W. Brookfield, last? year’s dux, had been withdrawn to commence his University course, as ho had been awarded the Lissie Rathbone scholarship for Otago. _ The secondary, school inspectors had visited the school and had approved of the courses of the candidates for higher leaving certificates. The annual athletic meeting and the annual barracks had been held,; The Pipe Baud was making good progress under its instructors, and it was hoped would be able to parade at tha head of the cadets on Anzac Day. Tlia Moderator of the Presbyterian Churchy when in Dunedin next week, hoped to visit the school. Two of the old boys were awarding a prize for public speaking in connection itb the Debating Society.
