DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB

FINAL CONCERT The Dunedin Burns Club held its final concert for 'the season in the Early Settlers’ Hall last night. There was a good attendance of members and friends, presided over by Mr G. Currie. The Chairman expressed his gratification at the very large attendance, and drew attention to the fact that during the past twelve months the club membership had maintained practically the same strength numerically as had been the case the previous year, while the finances were also in a very satisfactory condition. In view of the very difficult year he considered that the club could congratulate itself on its sound position. The usual high standard of entertainment was maintained by the concert, at the conclusion of which a short dance was held. The following contributed to the programme: —Vocal solos—Miss A. Hendry (‘My Heart is Sair’), Mr E. Bolwell (‘Hame o’' Mine’), Mrs D. Carty (‘Caller Herrin’’), Mr H. Cooper (‘Hundred Pipers’), Mrs G. Scott (‘Angus Macdonald’), and Mr G. Currie (‘The Inversnecky Grocer’); part ' songs— ‘ Auld _ Scotch Sangs,’ ‘ Lass o’ Arranteenie,’ and ‘ Willie’s Gone to Melville Castle,’ the choir; banjo solo, ‘ Souvenir,’ Air Desmond Neilson; violin solo, ‘ Scottish Airs,Mr Le Gal; recitation, ‘At the Movies,’ Miss Molly Baker; bagpipe selection, Air W. Budge; and national dance, Aiisses Peggy and Nora ,Stecle. The choir was controlled by Air F. C. Cooper, and Alsis E. Wright played the pianoforte accompaniments.
