“Guides and Guidcrs throughout the world will ho thrilled,” says the ‘ Alonthly News Sheet,’ “to hear of a generous gift to them from an American, Airs J. J. Storrow, of Lincoln, Massachusetts, of a beautiful chalet in Switzerland. Airs Storrow has also guaranteed the upkeep of this line place for three years. The chalet is to bo called ‘Our Chalet,’ and is situated at Eggctli, Adelbodcn, Switzerland. The altitude, 4,000 ft, makes it a suitable starting place for high mountain climbing and for winter sports. It will bo a marvellous place for a holiday, with sleeping accommodation varying in price from 5d a night. There will bo at least two general trainings at the chalet each year, and all outposts will he well advised of these beforehand.’’ There is immense interest taken in this news, and the dominion headquarters in New Zealand has already forwarded six handsome New Zealand rugs as a contribution from the executive. It is felt that the possession of ibis chalet will bo an incentive to all travelling Guides to “polish up” their French and German to got the most out of their visit to beautiful Switzerland. Sincere thanks are expressed to Airs Storrow. Mention is made in the ‘ Sheet ’ that Wellington owns _ a Brownie Hut, Southland a camp site at Oreti Beach, with a hut and water laid on, and Marlborough a Guide Home, “ Topuni,” which is the centre of all Guido activity and work.
