EMPIRE TIMBERS
INCREASING USE INDICATED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 26. Emphasising the advantage that foreign timbers have hitherto enjoyed through their suitability, cheapness, care in'preparation, grading, conditioning, and results of research, Mr J. R. Cosgrove, of the Government Forest Research Laboratory, lecturing at the Royal Society of Arts, remarked that the initiative of public bodies, backed by the Empire Marketing Board’s efforts, had led to the increasing use of Empire timbers, while producers were devoting more attention to British needs. Mr Cosgrove paid a special tribute to beautiful Australian timbers sutable for veneers and otlers for furniture, joinery, and flooring. He also paid a tribute to New Zealand timber, notably kauri, for flooring.
